A private room and the whole story.
For the leaking, the pressure, and the pain you have been managing quietly: a private room, a real assessment, and someone who has heard all of it before.
What It Is
You have been managing this quietly. A liner in your bag. The aisle seat. A mental map of every bathroom between here and work. You are the one who keeps everyone else’s appointments, which is exactly why nobody has ever looked at this one. And it does not hold still: year by year it quietly shortens the list of things you say yes to.
Your pelvic floor is a sling of muscle at the base of your pelvis. It supports what sits above it, it controls the valves, and it has to relax as well as squeeze. When that timing goes wrong you get leaking, urgency, heaviness, or pain. If the floor is already holding too much tension, more kegels can make it worse.
So we assess first, then train what the assessment found. Dr. Rachel Richard is trained through Herman and Wallace Pelvic Floor Level 2. She looks at how you breathe, how you brace, and how your hips and low back share the load. One-on-one in a private room, every visit.
Private room, and every step is your call
What It Helps

Questions, Answered
No. An internal assessment gives the clearest picture of how those muscles are working, so Dr. Rachel Richard will explain what it involves and why she is suggesting it. Then it is your call. Plenty of good care happens without one, and you can change your mind at any point in the session.
No. Pregnancy and delivery are common reasons people come in, and they are not the only ones. Leaking, urgency, pressure and pelvic pain also show up after abdominal surgery, around menopause, and in people who have never been pregnant. If the pelvic floor is involved, it is worth an evaluation.
Pelvic floor therapy is physical therapy, so it is billed that way. We are in network with Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Tricare, Multiplan and all Workers Compensation, and Illinois has direct access, so no physician referral is needed to start. We verify your exact benefits before your first visit, so there is no surprise on your bill. Questions before then? Call us at (708) 657-4038.
